Blog Post: Wanted: Hispanic Talent Pool

Are you an Hispanic American looking for a career opportunity? If you are bilingual, you have an edge! If you are not bilingual but you are of Hispanic heritage and understand the culture, you have a edge! If you are not bilingual and do not understand the culture but "look" Hispanic, you have an edge!
Being Bilingual, bicultural, or simply Hispanic, is a tool that makes you valuable. When you are able to speak the language, you can be deployed very effectively by corporations looking for Spanish-speakers. If you understand the culture, your knowledge is an asset that can be tapped to be utilized as needed. If you are of a generation where you are an English-speaker only, your look is valuable. Simply put, people like to do business with those who look like them. It is not necessary, but lets be real, it is human nature. It gives you an edge. So play up your assets. Not doing so in the competitive world of interviews and job hunting simply is not using all of your tools to the best advantage. In today's market, diversity is big and if you don't know it, talk to the corporate world, they sure have a complete understanding of diversity. There is a reason why the corporate world is quick to shout, "We value diversity!" When you hear this, take them seriously.
