Blog Post: What is Rightsizing?
posted Tuesday, January 13, 2009 1:17 PM
Rightsizing is downsizing a company's workforce to the point where the number of employees remaining is deemed to be "right" for the company's current condition. Let's look at the benefits of Rightsizing for your company:
View the "What is Rightsizing?" Video > http://projectleading.blogspot.com 1) Optimal Size - Despite popular belief, Rightsizing is not always downsizing. Some companies are in position to expand or increase marketing campaigns. Rightsizing means finding the optimal size for YOUR company. Whether a small business or a large corporation, every company has an "ideal number" of employees based on their current mission, condition and needs. 2) Improvement - Rightsizing improves efficiency, productivity and profitability. Finding the optimal size for your company means no wasted positions. Each employee is placed in roles to maximize their talents. The difference between a great employee and a good employee is about 500% in performance! Think of a championship sports team. Every athlete knows their role and does it at 100%. This is what Rightsizing can do for you. 3) Needed Change - Like any makeover, sometimes your organization needs to be restructured. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting different results." Rightsizing starts with an outsider's perspective, preferably a coach/consultant who can see issues objectively. Management tends to make subjective decisions, but if you want results, you make the best decisions for the company's well-being, not yours. Bottom Line: The goal is to reduce costs while improving efficiency and effectiveness.
