Profile: Coast Community College District

The Coast Community College District is a multi-college district that includes  Coastline Community College, Golden West College, and Orange Coast College.  The three colleges offer programs in transfer, general education, occupational/technical education, community services and student support services.  Coastline, Golden West and Orange Coast enroll over 60,000 students each semester in more than 300 degree and certificate programs.  Since its founding in 1947, the Coast Community College District has enjoyed a reputation as one of the leading community college districts in the United States.  Governed by a locally elected Board of Trustees, the Coast Community College District plays an important role in the community by responding to needs of a changing and increasingly diverse population.

An Orange County study completed by Idaho-based CCbenefits Inc., reveals how the three colleges within the Coast Community College District contribute to the social and economic well being of the communities we serve. Orange Coast, Golden West and Coastline Community Colleges enrich the lives of students, increase their lifetime incomes and contribute to the local economy of Orange County.

The primary mission of the Coast Community College District (CCCD) is to provide quality lower-division and occupational education to ensure that students from all ages and from all socio-economic backgrounds have the opportunity to achieve their postsecondary educational goals. Inherent in this mission is the provision of transitional instruction and those support services that promote student success. In addition, the District will offer non-credit courses and other community service programs that will meet cultural, recreational, professional in-service, and personal development needs.
