JOB DESCRIPTION
Revenue & Office Support Specialist
I. TITLE: Revenue & Office Support Specialist
II. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years experience in data entry and claims processing related to healthcare billing required
- Computer literacy including Microsoft, Windows, and Office or other database experience required
- Basic understanding of EDI and agency-based electronic health record system required.
- Good Oral and written communication skills, including positive face to face and telephone interaction skills
- Ability to multi-task and perform general administrative duties, including office machines, record-keeping and filing
- Bilingual in English/Spanish may be required
- Familiarity with L.A. County DMH information systems preferred
- Strong team and organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment required
III. REPORTS TO: IS Administrator
IV. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This role's primary purpose is to ensure that the revenue generating systems are accurately performing to their optimal levels by communicating findings to IS Administrator and working with the appropriate staff and their supervisors. Additionally the Revenue Specialist will assist the IS Administrator the resolution of revenue generating issues related to both in-house Systems and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health IS System.
This role's secondary purpose is to coordinate office activities with emphasis on record keeping functions. Significant task include; accurate and timely data entry, creating necessary reports in a timely fashion, and working with IS Administrator and IS Business Analysts to problem solve and report any obstacle to revenue generation. This role also provides general administrative support including receptionist and secretarial responsibilities.
V. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works within a team-oriented approach to meet the needs of the clients, families, community and the stakeholders and to ensure excellence in overall service delivery in office, home, schools, and community.
- Enters correct information into Children's Bureau in-house electronic health record system
- Coordinate with IS Administrator and IS Business Analysts to problem solve any obstacles to effective and timely billing and resolve any interface concerns.
- Prepares and maintains a current and accurate filing system as noted in
- Notifies IS Administrator and IS Business Analysts of any problems related to IS, EDI and billing.
- Prepares and maintains a current and accurate filing system as noted in
Medi-Cal/Short Doyle manual. Ensures that all notes are filed in a timely manner when requested to do so.
- Conducts the initial data gathering for any/all referrals
- Ensures files are ready and available for new client intakes. Ensures that a blank chart is in order and available to a clinician for intake.
- Assists in implementation and usage of database, collecting and entering data for program evaluation.
- Reconciles internal agency information with county and State information and UMDAP system for office
- Verifies Medi-Cal eligibility monthly and notifies IS Administrator of any irregularities if necessary.
- Works to ensure that denied billing is properly re-billed and any errors are correct to ensure acceptance of corrected billing.
- Provides administrative and clerical support to include receptionist duties, inventory and order of office supplies with necessary approval, and maintenance of calendar of events and room schedule for office use.
- Collaborates and notifies IS Administrator on work flow and ensures that office-oriented directives and policies and procedures are implemented in a timely manner.
VI. GENERAL:
- Maintains confidentiality in matters of agency operations, personnel, and clients.
- Maintains positive communications with all agency staff, clients and visitors.
- Exercises good judgment in performance of duties and responsibilities
- Supports existing agency policies, principles and mission.
