It’s Work That Matters.The Registered Nurse in the CardioThoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) will, under general supervision, serve as a registered nurse, conducts patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with health care team members in the delivery of ICU level care.
The 24 bed CTICU was established at CHLA in 1993. It is staffed by pediatric intensivists and located within the Heart Institute. About 900 patients are admitted each year, including children with the most complex diseases of the heart and lung. The CTICU is known as a worldwide leader in the treatment of heart disease (congenital or acquired) and lung disorders in children. We provide virtually every advanced treatment for all heart disorders and defects affecting children from neonate to young adult.
Minimum Education: BSN or MSN or ADN with a Bachelor's Degree in any field required.
Minimum Experience: 1 year of RN experience with 1 year of acute pediatric experience preferred.
License, Registration or Certification required: AHA CPR and PALS and CA RN license required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required: Broad knowledge of patient care principles and equipment; CHLA patient care policies and procedures. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize patient care tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.
