EMCORE Corporations has an immediate need for an Optical Assembler Operator II to assist on 1st shift full-time position. The position requires performing various repetitive assembly and test operations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

• Must be familiar with optoelectronic products
• Manual dexterity to manipulate multiple operations under a microscope, including assembly and testing of small assemblies
• Performs set-up calibration of specialized equipment to perform test
• Handle gyro grade optical fiber
• Bench level testing, disassembly, assembly, troubleshooting and repair
• Follow all policies and procedures and able to communicate both written and verbal with all necessary parties on status through the uses of computers
and /or logbooks
• Meet the time standards for production models
• Must be able to meet output and quality goals, some Overtime may be also required on a as needed basis
• Visual Inspection
• Working with small parts
• Final Packing
• Handling Epoxies
• Certified to IPC J -STD-001 and other duties as required

Minimum Education:
• High School diploma and/or Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education:

Minimum Experience:
• Requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience
• Knowledgeable to read and understand test schematic, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers
• Ability to effectively present information to top management
• Willingness and ability to work in a team environment
• Familiar with the setup and use of basic electronics test equipment: Frequency Generators, Oscilloscopes, Digital Multi-meters
• Ability to use hand tools, Microscope, Calipers, and measuring devices.
• Knowledge of using a Vytran or Fujikura Fiber Splicer
• Knowledge of ISO 9001
• Knowledge of Six Sigma White belt
• Knowledge of MRP (SL8).
• Working with microscopes
• Cleanroom protocol is required
