Certified Asbestos Consultant

Responsibilities

A nationwide private consulting firm currently has an immediate need for a Certified Asbestos Consultant in the Los Angeles area. The ideal candidate will have experience performing asbestos containing materials and lead containing paint surveys, abatement monitoring, and environmental assessments. The desired candidate will also have the ability to perform independent hands-on fieldwork, and oversee subcontractors and other field personnel. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, excellent communication skills, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.
The role will be providing environmental hazardous material oversight and conducting onsite sampling and testing for suspected asbestos and lead related materials. Role may also require collaboration with environmental oversight professionals who will be conducting onsite sampling and testing.

This position for the Certified Asbestos Consultant requires the appropriate certifications and experience performing and overseeing asbestos, lead-based paint, and hazardous building-material surveys and abatement oversight/monitoring. Desired certifications include a Certified Asbestos Consultant and Lead Inspector/Assessor/Project Monitor. Individuals with California asbestos and lead experience and certifications are preferred. Experience with other environmental work such as Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and subsurface soil and groundwater investigations is a plus. The candidate should have a minimum of five years' experience conducting and/or managing relevant projects, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently, and a willingness to occasionally work a flexible schedule.

Experience/Requirements:

• California Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) and Lead Inspector certification
• Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, geology or engineering preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience with field investigations and report writing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred
