Job Description
Currently, we are seeking a talented Associate Actuary to join the Life Insurance Division in Aliso Viejo, CA
The Life Insurance Division works with financial and insurance professionals to give families and businesses the life insurance coverage needed to help meet important financial protection, wealth accumulation, and wealth preservation goals.


POSITION SUMMARY
  • Contribute to the Principle-Based Reserve (PBR) implementation efforts in the Life Division, including participating in industry activities 
  • Assist in reviewing asset adequacy analysis and preparing annual actuarial memorandums and other actuarial reports for regulatory purposes under the direction of the Qualified Actuary 
  • Perform analysis needed to determine appropriate actuarial assumptions for PBR calculations
  • Ensure PBR processes comply with both internal and regulatory governance standards
  • Validate PBR results used for statutory reporting
  • Enhance, develop, and maintain documentation on PBR calculation and reporting
  • Maintain and enhance the process for reporting and validating PBR reserves
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and requests supporting the Valuation area as needed

FACTORS FOR SUCCESS
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, economics, or related field
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • 5 or more years of actuarial experience
  • In-depth knowledge of actuarial principles involved in life insurance products and their valuation
  • Knowledge of current statutory and tax formula reserve requirements as well as some exposure to developing future PBR requirements
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of other departments, functions and levels within the company 
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Effective time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Experience with R, Python, or other data analytics tools is a plus
